China’s biggest fintech company is partnering up with the NBA to tap into Chinese fans’ love of basketball. Ant Group, owner of the world's largest digital payment platform Alipay, will have rights to NBA video content and broadcasts.
NBA China launched a channel in Alipay last week. It shows user-generated content from the NBA's network of influencers and Alipay's authorized content creators.
NBA China first launched its mini program in Alipay in 2021. Fans can find game highlights, schedules and rankings from the NBA channel.
The NBA’s total turnover from the 2020-2021 season was down 33 percent year on year.
Adam Silver, commissioner of the NBA said the turnover of the 2021-2022 season had reached a new high.
